Country heavyweights Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert are headed in separate ways after four years of marriage, they announced on Monday morning.
“This is not the future we envisioned and it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately,” Blake, 39, and Miranda, 31, said in a joint statement obtained by the Associated Press. “We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter.”
The two, who wed in 2011 after six years of dating, were last seen together at the Academy of Country Music Awards in April.
TMZ reports that Blake filed in Oklahoma “a while ago,” and that the divorce should be finalized today. According to the site, Blake and Miranda have already worked out the financial arrangements due to their prenup.
